Last year, November 19 , 2021, to be exact, Ms. Yen Olay, the founder of Baybayen.com together with Ms. Kaye Sala and Teresa Flores Apura discussed and gave some tips during their Tribo Pagtitipon through livestream a on how to write a short and effective social media caption.

Identify the platform you're writing.

Every platform has its own audience. And each audience has their own expectations for the things they want to see on the platform that can affect how your social media caption performs. This is good tips for to learn on how to write a caption.

Maintain your brand voice as you write your caption.

What is your social media brand voice and why does it matter? Brand voice refers to the personality and emotion the business uses to communicate. Your brand voice should be one that captures the personality of your business, but more importantly one that uses messaging to connect with your target audience. Always think about what your audience wants, needs and motivates them. When your captions are written to address any of these things, you will captivate your target audience. Hmm, lemme give you an example about this. In coca-cola company their brand voice is that : EXPERIENCE, FRIENDLINESS AND HAPPINESS. So, how about yours? Think wisely.

Use AIDA as formula in composing your caption

The AIDA process stands for attention, interest, desire and action. Presenting your products as something as prospects need, even if they don’t know, they need it. The last kick into the goal is taking action, which leads to your success. Good savvy use of AIDA marketing can get your brand there. Use this one as a tips on how to write caption.
In this part, Ms. Yen gave an example on how to write a caption using the AIDA Formula.

Write it short and simple.

Keep it short and simple Captions in social media aren’t the best place to start writing a novel. Always consider your audience when it comes to writing and reading. Some of them are not willing to consume their time in reading long content. You need to keep your captions short and simple but captivating. Ensure that your first sentence has a strong hook to capture the reader. Capture their heart, not only their eyes.

Don't forget to use hashtag!

Use a hashtag. In every social media platform your brand uses a hashtag/s as a part of its strategy. It will help you to boost your brand’s social media presence and engagement. But don’t use too many words together, just put a hashtag that surely will easily remember your audience. And of course, use a hashtag that fits your brand. Truly, it’s tempting to jump on every hot trending hashtag out there. However, it’s better to stick to using hashtags that fit your brand. Hmm, maybe you ask yourself why some of the brands or people are not using a popular hashtag, it is because when you use a popular hashtag, your captions will look spammy and I know you don’t like that, right?

Lastly, a bonus tip for you is ” Customer first. Converse before selling”. Before you sell a product, you should consider your customer first, If it’s good for it and would benefit from it. Always put yourself in your customer’s shoes.

As you can see from the tips above, it’s not that difficult to follow and to create a great caption for your social media posts. Though some tips are simple and perhaps obvious, not everyone pays attention to these details and as a result, you can easily make your caption effectively and captivating. Hep, hep! I’ve got something to say to you… HAPPY WRITING!!!
