modern filipiniana wedding

Last year (2022), I paused creating content to promote Filipino, local products in the digital world, but it did not stop me from supporting it on the most important day of my life.

And since it is the wedding season of the year, sharing with you our wedding supplier list — all local suppliers for our Modern Filipiniana-themed wedding.

Manang A Catering is based in Silang, Cavite, and offers a delectable and timeless Filipino menu for events. We booked their 2022 package on a Tagaytay Bridal fair and from the time we met them until the day of the wedding, they didn’t disappoint! When it comes to customer service, we’ll rate them 10/10, shout out to Ms. Jarraine of Manang A, who assisted us from the beginning and answered all our (I mean, my inquiriesssss cause its a lot!).

The inclusion from the package we availed from them besides the Filipino menu are tables, chairs, and stage styling.

But since we wanted to upgrade our package to achieve a modern filipiniana look, they excluded their styling fee and suggested that we allocate it to a separate stage styling. And from that point, as a bride, I personally admire a sincere and thoughtful approach to their clients.

Serenescapes is a beautiful place for events. The Pavilion is a big room with a glass dome and lots of plants, making it look modern and tropical. It also has a unique ceiling made of “banig”, which feels like a Filipino hut.

You can stay overnight in one of their Cabanas or the whole house if you need more rooms for your family and friends.

This is convenient if you want to rest before or after your event. They have five Cabanas, which our family and friends used during our wedding weekend. They had a wonderful and relaxing time.

You can book the Pavilion for your event by visiting their Facebook page.

kabanata events on the day wedding coordinators
Ate Mafe, my MVP <3
Mau, our host and head coordinator in her element!

Nowadays, it’s so difficult to entrust your important events to anyone, so we’re truly blessed to know someone from the industry!
From the time we got engaged, I knew who to book as our wedding host and coordinator, and it was Mau and the Kabanata Events team.

One thing I realized from our wedding is that the coordinator should also be excellent and professional in handling all the wedding suppliers who will be there on your day. Imagine managing 20+ people on your wedding day who aren’t even your guests or family.
That’s why we invested in an excellent team of trustworthy coordinators. You can choose from their semi, on-the-day, and full coordination packages.
You can message them through their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/KabanataEvents

Here’s our Kabanata experience:

1. Pre-event – From day 0 until the wedding, I cannot count the number of inquiries I asked Mau and she thoughtfully took the time to answer all of them, and even advised us on other wedding essentials.

2. Morning of the wedding – their call time was 7:30 AM but they arrived at the venue at 7 AM. They checked on my room and gave team assignments, one for the bride, one for the groom, and the other for the guests and program flow. Shoutout to ate Mafe, my assistant, and her Doraemon bag, which had all the essentials – food, water, tissue, etc. (even a banana!)

3. The Processional – Since our church coordinators facilitated the processional, we were pleased to still have our OTD coordinator team assist us and the whole entourage, making sure I had a clear path as I walked down the aisle.

4. Recessional – Mau hosted our reception and made sure all our guests were entertained and organized. From photo ops, dinner time, surprise guests, SDE show, she made sure the program will end before 9 PM so that we will not extend. (But we extended, because of the groom’s suprise)

Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events that require careful planning and consideration to make sure all aspects are executed perfectly.

Among the many vital elements to consider is your Photo/Video team.

Their job goes far beyond merely taking pictures — it’s about capturing the crucial moments of your special day that you’ll want to relive for years to come. Fortunately, you can count on Primatograpiya as one of your primary wedding suppliers to provide exactly that. Our team did an exceptional job, and we cannot express enough how much we adore all our photos. We were delighted to avail of their fantastic package that included a prenup photo shoot.

What’s more, we love that every photo feels as if we’re back on the actual day, thanks to the frame-by-frame and skimming through it to see all the tears, smiles, and expressions of our guests.

Do yourself a favor and entrust your special day to Primatograpiya’s capable team. Visit our Facebook page to learn more: https://www.facebook.com/PrimatograpiyaStudios.

Our Modern Filipiniana-themed Wedding Essentials

For our invitation, we created a website for our guests where they would send their RSVPs.
They have their own account to log in and see wedding details such as venue, time, dress code, parking details, and more. We also uploaded our complete prenuptial agreement set on the website for our guests to see it first before we share it on our social media accounts.

We also printed our invitation with only essential details using Canva and printed it via Ilathala in A4 size for our wedding detail photoshoot. You can visit our printing rates here: https://ilathala.co/

I can say that I got one of the most beautiful bridal bouquets. I also want to thank Ms. Shumate Royo for sponsoring our abaca bridal bouquet and groom’s boutonniere from Artisan Mindanao. (And yep, I didn’t throw this one! I mean.. how can I?)

Groom Leather shoes: Godfather handcrafted from the shoe capital of the Philippines, Marikina.

Bridal shoes: I wanted to have weave shoes that I can also use not just at one time but also for other events. Good thing I found Wisefeet and bought myself on their website. I wrote a review primarily about this Juliana Weave-straps and you can read it here: https://baybayen.com/juliana-weave-straps-celebrating-cebuano-shoemakers-by-wisefeet-ph/

I just want to thank my bridesmaids as they are the ones who have sponsored their Filipiniana attire as their gift for us. Look how gorgeous they are! I’m excited for the next bride (no pressure!)

Part of my dream wedding is to the most special people in our lives in their Filipiniana and Barong. Grateful for our guests and entourage for giving their best in scouting their most fashioned modern barong and filipia dresses!

For our Unity Sandbox, we order a blank glass box from Kahon ATBP (they are available at Shopee) and since we wanted the print to be customized, we thought of putting “Ang Dalawa Magiging Isa”, originally to be in baybayin, but since we don’t have time and my husband had to custom print it, it will be complicated and will take more time.

A modern Filipiniana wedding wouldn’t be complete if the bride wasn’t in a white contemporary terno or a dress with sleeves shaped like clipped butterfly wings. I have a special story about how I got this beautiful piece.

Just like most wise Filipina brides-to-be, I went to Divisoria first. I’m glad I did it with my bridesmaids! I’ll never forget the love-at-first-sight feeling when I saw this on the mannequin at Crystelle Bridal Boutique, located at Dragon Mall.

They are very accommodating and 100% responsive! Inquire now on their Facebook page.

Since we wanted to tap local suppliers as much as we can, we looked for the best and most traditional barong maker in the country and we found Flavo Rosa located in Lumban, Laguna, the Hand Embroidery Capital of the Philippines. Visit their Facebook page.

We’re grateful to our friend, Rae Alegado, for sponsoring our wedding cake made by the Unexpected Baker. We absolutely love the design and, of course, the taste (chocolate)!

From sounds, lights to LED screen, and other production needs, Kuya Tholits of Enigmax has got you covered! Another tip for brides: it’s better if the recommendation for sound and lighting will come from the host. For us, Kuya Tholits was recommended by our host since they have worked for most events, all the more reason to trust their experience not just individually but how they work together — and they did not disappoint! The program flow was smooth and natural.

They are one of my favorite wedding suppliers because they allow us to personalize our magnet photo cards. My husband, Shaq, created our wedding monogram, and I designed the frame with the Baybayin characters that translate to ‘Ang Simula’.

Since the theme is “Ang Simula”, first idea that comes to mind is something that sprouts so.. a plant. But I also wanted to have a plant that symbolizes new beginning and kuya Archie from Archie’s Garden suggested the Calathea Plant.

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen Gift

For bridesmaids, my gift for them is robe for our pre-wedding shoot;

For groomsmen, Shaq gave them a bottle of wine;

Primary Sponsors Gift

From northern Luzon, we had our reception attire (bride, groom, and bridesmaid’s blue tapis) customized from Santiago, Isabela — a local Inabel woven maker, Handwoven Beauty. Just take note to order months before the event since everything they do is by hand and considering the shipping timeline, if you are also located in Manila.

All of our transactions are done through their IG, and here’s their Instagram link: https://www.instagram.com/handwovenbeauty/

These are the people and local brands behind our beautiful wedding. After 8 months of searching for our wedding supplier, I can say that we’ve found the best and most trusted people.

That’s why I dedicate this blog to our suppliers who have made our (or mostly, mine haha) dream wedding come to life. I hope you can also try the local makers mentioned here and support our very own Filipino craftsmanship. We highly recommend each of them and I’m hoping I can also work with them again in the next season of our life. Thank you again, our superb suppliers!
