Why Do We Need To Support Locals

Why Do We Need To Support Local Products/Businesses

Whatever you’re doing, stepping out into the world on your own is challenging. Imagine doing that in today’s business world, where everyone is out to get you. For years, small business owners have had their job cut out for them. So, every day, they face a difficult challenge in order to provide the public with different solutions that would improve customers’ lives like us.

But why should we support small companies/businesses in our communities? What gives them such influence that they will change our impressions of large companies for the better? Check it out for yourself!

It Shows Our Identity

When you purchase local products, especially in a country like the Philippines where the economy is still in transition. For example, a country whose economy used to be focused on agriculture but has since become more industrialized, relying on services and manufacturing. As a result, the country as a whole has focused on delivering outsourced services and industrial production for the global market.

Hmm, don’t get me wrong: I’m not suggesting that this is a negative thing. It’s incredible. It’s incredible how much you can grow. Even more great is the economic growth!

But don’t miss the fact that we are all in this together. Let us not forget who we are in the literal sense of the word. Supporting Filipino-made goods helps us remember our culture and identity.

Reflects the creativity of the Filipinos

Fine craftsmanship is seen in Filipino items. Filipinos are accustomed to ingenuity and craftsmanship. We’ve met a number of talented Filipino artisans who work on everything from journals and notebooks to kitchen accessories (such as flatware, bottle openers, and dessert servers), mirrors and tiny furniture, wearables, and even toys and gifts.

Filipinos are very creative. I personally believe that Filipinos are naturally creative and innovative. A lot of people can attest that Filipinos are talented in every kind of industry. This can be seen through the rise of many potential businesses in the country.

Best example that we Filipinos are truly creative is we recycle products such as Styrofoam, laminated items, junk food packaging and bottles that usually just go straight to the landfill. We collect all kinds of plastic. Even the single-use plastic ones that we use every day can be mixed with other plastics to make a [new] product. Fantastic, isn’t it?

Did you know?

Supporting locals means supporting yourself too. When you buy Philippine-made products, money stays in the community when you purchase from locally-owned businesses because they also purchase from other local businesses such as banks, service providers, and farms. This in turn strengthens the Philippines’ economic base, allowing support and success for other local businesses as well.

Buhayin ang ekonomiya. Maging bayani. Maging BUYani. Buy local, Go Lokal!
